Excess Foot Perspiration & Smelly Feet
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating commonly seen on the hands and feet. Hyperhidrosis is a fairly common disorder, causing both embarrassment and often bacterial growth and bromohydrosis (smelly feet).
What Causes Hyperhidrosis?
Although neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis, most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy. Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some, but many who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat nearly all their waking hours, regardless of their mood or the weather. The excessive perspiration often contributes to a most unpleasant odor.
Excess Foot Perspiration Treatment
BOTOX® or Dysport® injections are a particularly effective way to treat hyperhidrosis. Not only are injections quick, they reduce perspiration for many months. A single half-hour treatment can last for a year or more. There are surgical, as well as non-invasive treatment options for this condition.
